A1. When will NUS Biathlon 2017 be held?
NUS Biathlon 2017 will be held on 18th March 2017, Saturday, 8am-12pm
For participants, you will receive your reporting time for your respective waves nearing the event date.
A2. Where will NUS Biathlon 2017 be held? (eg. Reporting venue, routes, valuables storage)
NUS Biathlon will be held at East Coast Park this year - Casuarina Grove, Carpark F2, East Coast Park Service Rd, Singapore 449876.

A3. What is the minimum age requirement to participate?
The minimum age requirement to participate in the biathlon as participant or volunteer is 18 years old.
NUS Biathlon 2017 is open to all, both the NUS community and the public. Students from tertiary and polytechnic institutions are most welcome to apply.
CIP (or VIA) hours will be awarded to volunteers upon request.
A4. Will there be a Race Briefing Session?
Nope, race information will be given to you in the form of an e-race booklet that will be sent to you nearer the event date.
Nonetheless, should you have any queries, feel free to contact us via email: biathlonfaq@nussportsclub.org .
A5. When will I be able to collect my race pack?
Race pack collection will tentatively be on 11 March (Saturday).Please bring your
IC/passport/ matric card for identification. More details will be released at a later date.
A6. How will I know my timing?
Only the top 3 timings of each category will announced on the day itself. For your individual timings, do refer to our Facebook Page 1 week after the event.
B. Registration
B1. How can I register for the race?
Kindly sign up through the e-survey link. Only online sign-up is available.

Registration closes on 1 March 2017. A confirmation email containing the event and payment details will be sent to you shortly after.
NUS students and staffs are entitled to early bird when they register before 19 February 2017.
B2. How can I volunteer for NUS Biathlon 2017?
Kindly sign up via the e-survey link (different link from race registration). https://mysurvey.nus.edu.sg/EFM/se/54CCD236260CFC33 All volunteer will be provided with light refreshments, goodie bag and volunteer tee.
Volunteers will be allocated roles as road marshals, water point helper, timekeeper/scorers, registration, baggage deposit, crowd control, first aider (need valid cert), or photographers (has own professional equipment).
A compulsory briefing for volunteers will be conducted around one week before the event.
B3. When is the last day of registration?
Registration will close on 1 March 2017 (Wednesday), 2359hr.
B4. Is my place in the NUS Biathlon 2017 guaranteed after registration?
No, you can only secure a spot after payment is made and verified.
Payment details will be emailed to participants after registration is made. Payment modes includes cash (on 18 & 25 Feb during swim trials and 11 March) or internet banking (i-banking).
B5. Can my friend take over my slot if I am unable to make it after payment? We have the same T-shirt size.
No. In the interest of the participant’s well-being and safety, we strictly prohibit the sales, exchange and transfer of race entries. Reason being that the race tag numbers contain the registered participant’s medical information and emergency contacts, which is important for the medical team to provide immediate medical assistance should an accident occur.
No refund is allowed if you are unable to make it for the event.
B6. Can I change my race category after payment? Eg. Change from Open to novice
No. Race entry is non-transferable, non-refundable and non-changeable.
C. Payment
C1. How do I make payment?
Payment can be made through either cash or internet banking (i-bank).
For CASH
Cash collection will be held during the swim trials (18 and 25 Feb), as well as on 11 March (the tentative date for race pack collection).
For those who wish to pay on 11 March, click the option ”“Cash during swim trials” in the registration form and inform the admin at admin.biathlon@nussportsclub.org when you receive the email regarding your registration code.
For I-BANKING
1) Transfer amount to DBS Current Bank No: 003-926680-4. Details will be given in an email sent to you after registration.
2) Send the following details to admin.biathlon@nussportsclub.org
· Internet-banking name (to be same as your registration name)
· Transaction date and time
· Registration code (indicated in confirmation email)
· Label your subject as "Payment - (registration code*) "
Please make payment within 3 days of receiving your registration code.
*Registration code given when we process your registration form
Note: we do not accept ATM transfer as we are unable to track the records. NUS Sports Club reserves the right to deposit any untraceable amount into its reserves.
If you are unable to make it down on the payment day itself and are unable to transfer us the payment online, do inform us at so that we are able to make alternative arrangements for you.
C2. I cannot make it down to the payment booths on the stated dates. Can other forms of payment be made?
Online payments are accepted as well. Payment can be made through either cash or internet banking.

C3. Please note that we do NOT have a refund policy.
Hence, we strongly recommend applicants who need to attend the swim trials to pay only after they have PASSED the trial.
D. Swim trials/ proof
D1. When is the swim trials?
The swim trials will be held on 18th & 25th February 2017 from 10am to 1pm at Temasek Polytechnic (Address: 21 Tampines Avenue 1, 529757). The requirement to pass the swim trial is to swim the distance you signed up for continuously within a time limit (swimming pool), without any floatation aid.
Discovery: 200m in < 8 mins. Dash: 400m < 16 mins. Sprint: 800m < 32 mins.
Swim trial is COMPULSORY unless participants are able to prove their swimming proficiency. (refer to Q21)
D2. Is the swim trial compulsory? What happens if i fail the swim trial?
Yes, the swim trial is compulsory for all participants unless you have proof of your swimming proficiency. We need to assess your swimming proficiency as you will be swimming in semi-open seawater conditions during the event.
Participants who fail the swim trial will not be able to participate in NUS Biathlon 2017 for safety reasons. They will get a partial refund of the registration fee.
D3. What counts as proof of swimming proficiency?
Example of proof is a participation certificate in a sporting event that involves swimming in open sea within the past one year (eg. 2016/2017 aqua/bi/triathlon).Examples of such events are 2016/ 2017 Singapore Aquathlon, Singapore International Triathlon, 2XU Ultra Biathlon, MetaSprint Aquathlon, MetaSprint Triathlon, Trifactor Swim or Trifactor Triathlon. Participation cert in NUS Biathlon 2016 may also be accepted if the swim distance you signed up for is equivalent or less than what you swam last year.
For Discovery and Dash participants, an alternative proof could be your swimming proficiency certificate (eg. NASSA – National Survival Swimming Award).
Please produce your proof via writing to us at admin.biathlon@nussportsclub.org . Label your subject as "SwimtrialPOE- (registration code)*". Remember to attach your proof in the email.

E. Event Day
E1. What is the attire for NUS Biathlon 2017?
Each participant will be given a Race Shirt to be worn during the running leg of the race.
A finisher tee will also be provided (for Dash and Sprint participants) as dry attire post-race.
If participants wish to wear full body swimsuit, do ensure that the arms are to be exposed so that we can body mark your participant number.
Participants should also not have loose accessories or watches on during the swim.
Note: No bikinis/mankinis are allowed.
E2. What is counted as a penalty?
Please refer to the Rules and Regulations of NUS Biathlon 2017 (will be released later).
Any breach of these rules and regulations can be penalised.
E3. What happens if it rains?
The organising committee of NUS Biathlon 2017 will determine if it is safe to continue.
CAT-1 weather status renders an immediate halt of the race.
Delays are expected, and the affected wave will be cancelled with no refunds after the cut-off time, which is to be decided by the organising committee of NUS Biathlon 2017.
There is no wet weather route.
E4. What happens if I'm late? Can I join a later wave?
Participants are allowed to join a later wave subject to availability slots in the later waves.
No timing will be provided if they do not run in their respective waves.
E5. What if I am injured during the race or otherwise unable to finish the race?
First aid stations will be located along the routes. Medical assistance will provided to injured participants.

F1. Why hasn't NUS Biathlon 2017 replied to my email enquiry?
Our admin will try their best to answer your enquiry within 3 working days. Do check your junk mail if you have not heard from us. Otherwise, we would appreciate it if you could send us your enquiry again!
